INDEFINITE adalah kata yang di pergunakan untuk menggantikan benda yang belum jelas.

INDEFINITE PRONOUNS

Such pronouns refer to indefinite (usually unknown) persons or things, or to indefinite quantities.

Indefinite Persons or Things.

These pronouns are all singular in form and are used without noun antecedents. They consist of the following compounds:

	-body	-one	-thing
Some-	Somebody	Someone	Something
Any-	Anybody	Anyone	Anything
No-	Nobody	No one	Nothing
Every-	everybody	everyone	Everything

 The forms with no- generally make a sentence negative rather than the forms with any- or every-  plus a negative verb.

Thus we say Nobody is permitted to enter rather than  Anybody is not permitted to enter. However, it is possible to say Not anybody is permitted to enter, with the special meaning that only certain qualified people may enter. 

a.     Another

Kata ganti benda tunggal yang belum di kenal.

-         I don’t like this t-shirt give me another.

b.     Others

Kata ganti benda jamak yang belum dikenal.

-         Those books aren’t interesting show me others

c.      The other

Kata ganti benda tunggal yang sudah dikenal.

-         I have three brothers

Two live in Medan and the other lives in Jakarta

d.     The others

Kata ganti benda jamak yang sudah di kenal

-         I lent her three novels she returned only one, she is reading the others.

e.     Some one

Seseorang (untuk kalimat positive)

Some one called my name last night.

f.       Anyone

Seseorang (untuk kalimat negative dan interrogative)

( + ) I met someone

( - )  I didn’t meet anyone

( ? ) Did I meet anyone ?

g.     None - No one

Tidak seorangpun (untuk kalimat bermakna negative)

No one refers only to persons.

None specifies a quality and is generally followed by an of phrase. None refers to either persons or thing. 

-         No one (nobody) passed the examination.

-    None (not one) of the students passed the examination.

h.     Everyone

Seseorang (untuk kalimat positive)

-         Everyone must sit down.

i.        Something

Sesuatu (untuk kalimat positive)

-         I found something in my bag.

j.       Anything

Sesuatu (kalimat negative dan interrogative)

-         I don’t have anything.

k.     Nothing

Tidak ada

-         Nothing can change my decision.

l.        Everything

Segala sesuatu ( untuk kalimat positive)

-         Everything has changed since you left.
