Simple Past Tense

Simple Past adalah tense yang menyatakan kegiatan/kejadian yang terjadi pada saat tertentu di masa lampau.

Fungsi :

1. Untuk menyatakan suatu kegiatan yang terjadi pada waktu tertentu di masa lampau.

Contoh :    

- I met Luna yesterday

- He opened the door five minutes ago

2. Untuk menyatakan suatu kebiasaan yang terjadi pada waktu lampau.

Contoh :    - I always carried my umbrella last season

                 - They came to Indonesia each year

Rumus Simple Past Tense dibagi menjadi 2, yaitu :

a. Rumus untuk kalimat Verbal 

b. Rumus untuk kalimat Nominal

1. Rumus : Kalimat Verbal

   Kalimat verbal adalah kalimat yang memakai kata kerja.

                        

       Subject + V2  + O/C

Contoh :   

 - They went to Parapat last month

  - I visited my grandmother yesterday

2. Rumus : Kalimat Nominal

    Kalimat Nominal adalah kalimat  yang memakai Noun/adjective/adverb. 

Subject + was/were + Noun/adj/adv

Contoh : 

- I was sick yesterday

- They were in Jakarta last month.

Ingat !!! 

Subject She, He, It memakai  "was"

Subject   I, You , We , They mamakai  "were"

Adverb of time: 

- Yesterday, 

- last night/week/month/year

- two hours ago, 

- just now, 

- this morning/afternoon

Contoh kalimat Simple Past Tense : 

1. I visited my Grandmother yesterday.

2. We went to Parapat last month.

3. ( + ) John cleaned the floor yesterday.

    ( - ) John didn't clean the floor yesterday.

    ( ? ) Did John clean the floor yesterday ?

4. ( + ) Maria was sick two days ago.

    ( - ) Maria wasn't sick two days ago.

    ( ? ) Was Maria sick two days ago ?
